Thousands of Kurdish fighters were brought to Israel for training. The plan envisioned a major Israeli air campaign in Iran’s Kurdish regions that would clear a corridor for Kurdish forces to enter the country, with planners hoping an initial military breakthrough would spark protests involving millions of Iranians.

However, the plan was abandoned shortly after the war began. “After three days of the campaign, we received the word: Don’t,” an Israeli official told Channel 13.

The order came from the White House following opposition from Turkish President Erdoğan and pressure from U.S. Vice President JD Vance.
